consent of the school manager and the teachers concerned, and subject to
the approval of the Director of Education, provided that Government shall
not make any contribution in respect of any teacher who has passed the age
limit prescribed for the retirement of similar teachers in Government
service.
Capital Grants.
A grant not exceeding one-half of the actual cost may be made towards
the building of a new school or for extension or structural repairs to an existing school, where such building, extension or structural repair is considered necessary by the Director of Education.
The site, plans, estimates, specifications, title and trust deeds
shall be previously approved by Government.
The trustees or other legal representatives of the school must state
by a declaration of trust to be registered in the Land Office:
(a) That the premises will be used solely for educational purposes.
(b) That the school will be managed in accordance with the Grant
Code in force for the time being.
(c) That if they should hereafter desire to release themselves from
the foregoing obligations, they will repay the whole amount of
grant, less allowance for depreciation at a rate not lower than
1% and not exceeding per annum, subject to the approval of the
Director of Education after consultation with the Director of
Public Works and the Financial Secretary.
The building grant is payable on presentation of a certificate
(with balance sheet annexed) by the trustees or other legal representatives
of the school, setting forth that the building and covenants are completed
and that the money in hand will, when added to the grant, meet all claims
and finally closes the account.
A grant not exceeding one-half of the actual cost may be made in
aid of equipment of a permanent or semi-permanent nature which in the
opinion of the Director of Education is necessary for any course of instruc-
tion approved by him.
